someone has to tell americans that short shorts aren't for everyone. in fact, they're not for most people. honestly, i have seen enough miles of bulging, flabby, stringy, veiny, horrendous flesh to last me about three lifetimes. eugh. so far, the most obvious difference between the summer tourists and the winter tourists is about 30kg. the winter tourists being the thinner and better dressed. unsurprisingly, obnoxiousness levels don't seem to differ much between the groups. hmm.
am having a hard time finding iron-on letter - much harded than i would have thought. grrr. i keep finding things on the internet saying, 'oh, no one really uses iron on letters anymore - everyone's printing stuff out on special heat transfer paper from their home computers'. yeah, very helpful. boo to that. double boo to that. it's making me cross. maybe walmart sells them - they sell guns, after all. huh.
have reached a point where i know absolutely that i will not pick up an accent. it was a little dicey a month or so ago but i'm over it now - it's not going to happen. this is good news, cat fans. have decided instead to casually throw in more and more australianisms - things i would never dream of saying at home: bonza, mate, arvo. hehehe. no, not really, but sometimes i think about it. have realized today that americans don't say 'good one' when someone does something stupid. must do this more.
wah!
watched vh1's 'booty call' special last night on tv. yeah, really. it was very funny. also, there are new ads out here against ecstasy. first there's bouncy music as several items float across the screen: chupachups, a stuffed toy, glowsticks, a lilac backpack, a dummy. the voiceover says that these may seem like innocent items but they could also be signs that your teenager is taking ecstasy. it cracks me up every time. americans are so paranoid about drugs (though aspen does seem to be an exception - the police here don't give a rat's).
oooh, lollipops....drugs!
gasp! a backpack....drugs!
dear me.
i think that if they wanted to get serious they should have antidrug ads in the style of the tac road safety ads and the quit ones. i think that approach may be too much for the fatlanders, though. anyway, they like drugs - there are ads on tv for all sorts of drugs all the time. all the time. bleugh. sniff.
hmm.
