renewing my lease today. very exciting.

last night there was a total eclipse of the moon. i hiked up smuggler mountain to get a good look at it and commune with nature and all that. well, i got up there and it was raining. i couldn't see a thing and i was wet. i think i was up there for about 45 seconds before coming back down. i had taken a small backpack with me, packed with provisions like apples and cookies. it occurred to me as i was walking down the mountain that there might be bears about. bears that may be interested in apples and cookies. so after i realize that i don't know how to increase my chances of survival in a bear attack i think that, well, i guess that when you're time's up you're time's up (just ask dr atkins) and that there are worse ways to go than being eaten by a bear.

so, no eclipse, no bears, just wet hair and stiff quads. woo.

have just bought a new mat for the bathroom. it's yellow. it has cowboys on it. tres kitsch. it was severely on sale and i'm celebrating the renewal of our lease.

also, had some of our outdoore furniture oiled today. we have a little patio that has a nice-ish view (it's very nice if you start about 200m above the ground - below that there's another condo building and a carpark but the trees and mountains are very pleasant to look at. i had my breakfast in the sun. it was very civilized. i was very glad to be there.
