Come and gone

It was great to see the pares. I as thought we did nothing but eat: donuts and bagels from Peter Pan, walnut bread from Balthazar, dim sum at 88 Palace, fish tacos at Florenzia 13, langostines and cornish hen at Acqua Santa, eggs at the Triple Decker, salmon cooked in vine leaves, fried haloumi, steamed asparagus, cocktail prawns, martinis, sea perch with thyme, smoked salmon on toast. Oh my... It's like a week of Thanksgiving or something. We also did some fun shopping: bowls and chopsticks from Pearl River, mechanical pencils and emerald green ink from Kate's Paperie, shirts from American Apparel, and, of course, lots of groceries from all over the place. We had some cultural experiences: the Met, the Natural History Museum, chinatown, flea markets on the Upper East Side, a motorcycle bar in Brooklyn.

One week was definitely too short but, of course, better than nothing (or better than a poke in the eye with a burnt stick as my mother would say). It will be nice to sleep in our nice bed again but, you know, I was getting used to the sofa pretty well by the end. There will be some photos on Flickr soon (probably tomorrow).
