last thursday i wrote a huge long entry updating all the new year's stuff like how i made heaps of money working in a nightclub and how we were at some packed houseparty until the police broke it up at 6:15am and how i had to work the next day on 3 hours sleep and all that but for some reason the computer i was using has a totally irrational hatred of blogger and crashed as soon as i hit 'post & publish'. all gone. that was very sad and, you know, i'm just not going to write all that out again. sorry, kids. oh, i'm sure you'll all do just fine without it. hope everyone has a nice new year's and i'm wishing you all the very best for 2003. ooh ur, 2003 already. eeee! scary.

am absolutely sick to death of long fur coats. apparently, no one wearing a floor length mink or silver fox has noticed that every other person is wearing one too and that they're just not that cool. i often see those coats teamed with cowboy hats. uh-huh. nice. also often accompanied but too much plastic surgery. sigh. bring on the stealth wealth, i say. that's not what aspen is about, though, i guess.

fabulous news: they've stopped playing the christmas cd at kenneth cole. yay! i work there five days a week and listening to macy grey sing 'winter wonderland' over and over was slowly killing me. now we have a nice inoffensive mix of j-lo, eminem, kylie etc etc. they edit out all the questionable lyrics. it's all very sanitary. wouldn't want to put anyone off buying a pair of boots. hmm.

you know what? the people who live in aspen permanently are all complete freaks. i mean it. mad as hatters, the lot of them. so there are three groups here: the kids here to work, mostly from australia and nz; the rich tourists; and the crazy locals. it's intersting.

was so so excited to buy the new york times the other day. unlike the denver papers it actually has real news in it. amazing. and there are editorials and opinion pieces that are interesting. unbelievable. i read the whole thing. have given up on watching cnn completely. i used to hope in vain that they might show something happening in the world outside the usa or iraq but no. no wonder americans think that they're the centre of the universe - they keep telling themselves so. sigh. am wondering if i can get a subscription to the ny times and how much it would cost. very tempting... we'll see. am also enjoying not having to pay $12 a piece for copies of the new yorker. bought the winter fiction issue the other day and it was actually very good. lots of good stories.

must remember to buy a gun next time i go to walmart. huh.
