oh, i know you've all been just dying because i haven't posted anything for a couple of days. i've been in aspen, you see, checking out the scene. it involved far too many buses. bleugh. on the up, though, now we have a place to stay, which is a relief. now i just have to figure out some way to pay for it and find several jobs or perhaps several sugar daddies to cover expenses. hmm.

i stayed overnight in glenwood springs which is between denver and aspen. no, actually, it's on the route between denver and aspen which is not particularly direct - all those stupid mountains in the way of the roads. anyway, there really are springs at glenwood springs. hot springs. rah! i went after dark. i was hoping there would be snow so i could be just like one of those japanese snow monkeys but there was no snow. the moon was almost full, though, so that was pretty cool. i'll tell you something now that no one ever tells you when they talk about the hot springs and how great they are: they stink. oh boy do they stink. sulphur. yes, i know they're mineral springs and all but - bleugh! i swear the fates of hell are under those springs. eugh.

have been watching 'dawson's creek' here. i sort of got into it before i left. yeah, shut up. it's too bad, though, because all those kids looked to cute as teenagers but they're growing up to be fairly unnattractive adults. even katie holmes is looking pretty pouchy-eyed and middle aged. oh well. actually, i've been watching lots of tv - it's helping me adhust to american culture. hahaha. there's this excellent japanese cooking show called 'iron chef'. it's kind of a game show. it's very very funny. each episode there's a guest chef (the "challenger") who has to battle one of the four "iron chefs" in a cooking contest. they're given one main ingredient that all there dishes have to be centred on. the ingredient is dramatically revealed just before they begin the 1 hour cook-off. the host is utterly hilarious - he wears ruffly shirts and sequined trimmed gloves and takes the whole thing very seriously. everyone in the show is dubbed over with american voices except the host. weird - especially when he's chatting with one of the competitors. you can find 'iron chef' drinking games on line. the chefs often make desserts, which is particularly interesting when the main ingredient is eel or squid or something. oh, yeah, and the main ingredient is usually alive when it's brought out. mmmm.

eel icecream. yum.
