hey, kidlets!
apologies for the laspe in entries but nothing at all was happening and then there was thanksgiving and then there was moving to aspen.
thanksgiving was nice. amanda finally made it to denver despite much angst as a result of the combined incompetence of american airline and security at LA airport. she was supposed to come in at 10am but actually got there around 5pm. well, in the mean time uncle stan and i watched the macy's thanksgiving day parade on tv (apparently, that's a tradition). then we watched a national dog show on tv which the tv station is hoping will become a new thanksgiving tradition. uncle stan likes dogs. it was interesting but having seen 'best in show' the whole thing was fairly hilarious.
anyway, so we had pumpkin pie (very tasty) and stuffing and turkey (for the meatos) and mashed potato etc etc etc. very nice.
next day, drove to aspen. i didn't call the gas and electricity companies the week before we moved in because i'm basically a spaz so we've been pretty cold the past few days. we've had electricty because our landlord already had that going. we finally got the gas going today. we've been running the oven full bore with the door open just to keep the place warm. also, amanda and i sleep together to stay warm at night. she's used to sleeping with a boyfriend and is very co-ordinated in her sleep turn overs. also, she's very warm. but that's all over now because the place is heated. yeah yeah!
am trawling for jobs like a fiend at the moment. i've applied for 20 positions in the last 2 days. centrelink would be proud. had an interview this afternoon for a job in a shop that sells, among other things, $5000 handbags. they wanted me to tell them i'd start work tomorrow and commit for the next 6 months. yeah, really. i think i'll keep my options open, thanks very much.
am currently feeling full of love for the world. this may have something to do with the nicely spiked hot apple cider i had a little earlier. mmmm. our phone is not to be connected until wednesday or so and in the mean time we take advantage of the phones in the bar of a nearby hotel. we go there at least once a day to drink overpriced hotel bar drinks and make calls. we're becoming very good friends with the bellboys there.
have not seen anyone famous yet but apparently melanie griffiths and antonio banderas were in starbucks the other day. so sad to miss them.
this place is absolutely filthy with australians. yay. mostly the kind of boys and girls we know and love from college. double yay. i don't like em. they speak strangely and they look like everyone i left behind. hmm. boring.
ah, also, am wearing my beautiful beautiful furry boots right now and i can tell that everyone else in the pitkin county library right now is insanely jealous. small children laugh when they see me. ha ha, just a small step on my path towards world domination. just try to stop me. yahahahahahahahha!
oh, and no one tells you that high altitudes make your nose bleed and your eyes red up like you're a junkie. i'm fucking gorgeous.
kiss! kiss!
