ok, so that last entry was probably something of a generalization. still...
the other housemates have arrived and have turned out to be very nice indeed. such a relief.
am not feeling particularly literate at the moment. went out last night etc etc etc and have had only small amounts of sleep since then. also, i somehow cut my left index finger and can't type very well with the stupid bandaid on. the bandaid has stars and stripes on it. very patriotic. it warms my heart, i tell you. in fact, just last night we were wandering around town in the middle of the night screeching out 'the star spangled banner'. well, just the first 4 lines of it, actually, because we don't know the rest and couldn't find a single american to tell us. i thought that sort of thing was hardwired into their brains. apparently not.
had training at 'the gap' last night. it's a goddamn cult. had to watch a whole bunch of propaganda videos and was made to sign the gap pledge. very scary. what frightens me most, though, is the depressingly dull dress code. at least the staff discount is very generous. will start next week.
also working at kenneth cole which sells shoes and coats and bags etc. nice shoes. also a very generous staff discount. i'm all set.
possibly also working at ute city bar & grill as a hostess. i gotta see the guy about that tonight, so we'll see. apparently, it's 'casual fine dining'. americans really have no idea.
will keep posting. we have internet at home now. so exciting.
